St.John of God N.S., Owning is a co-educational, Catholic, primary school which strives to provide a well-ordered, caring, happy and secure atmosphere where the intellectual, spiritual, physical, moral and cultural needs of the pupils are identified and addressed.
While St. John of God N.S. is a school with a Catholic ethos, it also has due recognition for all other religions.
St. John of God N.S. will strive to promote, both individually and collectively, the professional and personal development of teachers through staff development programmes.
The involvement of parents in our school will be encouraged through the initial open night for parents of pupils starting in St. John of God N.S., the Parents Association and continuing through school contacts.
St. John of God N.S. will endeavour to enhance the self-esteem of everyone in the school community, to develop in the pupils respect for themselves, for other people and their property and to encourage them to strive towards being responsible and tolerant young adults.
Gender equity amongst the teachers and pupils of St. John of God N.S. will be promoted.
St. John of God N.S. will try to inculcate a healthy attitude towards work and recreation.
We will endeavour to develop a love and respect for Ireland, its language, traditions, history, music, dance and games.
The local area will be of prime importance to us and we will strive to introduce the pupils to the following – history, traditions, landmarks, the environment and people who reside in our locality.
