Kickboxing!

On Sunday 10/02/13 Melissa Byrne, Sam Hickey, Patrick O’Brien and Conor O’Brien competed in a kickboxing competition in the Emerald kickboxing gym in Carrick on Suir. They were accompanied by fellow kickboxer Chloe Walsh who watched the fights.

A lot of work is involved in preparing for such events, ” We usually train on Monday and Wednesday. We warm up at the start then we get a break. We punch and kick bags, spar and do the basics, after which we usually do self defense with our trainers, Billy, Mark, John, Ferdely and Tracey, who are very nice to us. We got our first belts (yellow) a few months ago, we don’t know when we are grading again.” – Melissa Byrne, Sam Hickey, Chloe Walsh and Patrick O’Brien.
